In this project, a digital tracker was developed based on artificial intelligence that localizes tools in vehicles. In this way, search efforts can be minimized and tool management can be facilitated considerably. The solution made it technically possible by so-called Bluetooth beacons. These sensors are attached to the tools. They emit signals that can be received by a smartphone, for example. Based on the signal strength, triangulation can be used to calculate where the last encounter with the tool was. The AI assembles the data sent by the beacons into patterns. In this way, it is not only possible to see whether a vehicle is fully loaded for a work order, but also to optimize the flow of materials by tracking the paths of tools and machines.
